Diameter-Based Roof Options Balance Performance with Price

Roof strength is a critical part of a stiffened grain storage bin. Brock’s roof features a unique, industry-leading design of four panels per body sheet to help provide extra load-carrying capacity for commercial uses.

To aid you in balancing performance with price, Brock offers diameter-based roof options with peak loads ranging up to a maximum of 25,000 pounds (11,300 kg). These options are engineered to help you cost-effectively choose the right roof strength to meet the demands of your grain handling system.

Brock's structured roofs are designed to meet all of the following four specifications:

  • Design peak load – Based upon the application data charts (see the roof peak load specifications page below).
  • Design snow load - Ground snow load of either 40 pounds per square foot (195 kilograms per square meter) or 50 pounds per square foot (244 kilograms per square meter).
  • Design temperature control cable* load - 1,500 pounds (680 kg) per temperature control cable. Brock's 60- through 105-foot (18.3- through 32.0 m) diameter commercial bins are designed to accommodate the loads from multiple temperature cables.
  • Dead load of the structure – Varies upon bin model.

 

*Optional roof structures for some bin diameters may be available for special situations or loading conditions. For instance, some Brock 48- and 54-foot (14.6- and 16.5-m) diameter stiffened bins require a temperature cable package to be added during construction if temperature cables are to be used in those bins.
